The 20% Deposit Myth and the $5K* Reality for WA First Homebuyers
The 20% rule? We need to talk.
Rent’s going up. Life’s expensive. And that 20% deposit? It’s not getting any closer.
If your first home feels like it’s always just out of reach, you’re not alone.
We get it. And we’re here to help.
The good news is: you don’t need to save a 20% deposit to get into your first home.
Not with Homebuyers Centre.
With our $5,000 deposit pathway*, eligible first homebuyers can secure a house and land package and get the build process underway sooner than they probably thought possible. Here’s how it works.
What the $5K deposit pathway actually looks like
The $5K deposit pathway is designed for first homebuyers who are ready to move forward – they just need a smarter way to get there.
In partnership with our in-house finance experts at Resolve Finance, eligible applicants can secure a selected house and land package with just $5,000 upfront. From there, your home, land and finance come together in one supported process, with our team guiding you through every step.
What does this mean for you?
Less time running around. More time doing the fun stuff!
Why this is different to other low-deposit options
There are other low-deposit schemes out there. A lot of them still involve long waiting lists, complicated eligibility hoops, or leaving you to piece the finance puzzle together yourself.
This pathway is different because it brings everything together in one place – home, land and finance, with a team that knows first home buying inside out.
We’ve been doing this since 1991.
We’ve helped more than 30,000 people get their keys.
We know what works.
You’ll be supported the whole way through
Buying your first home can feel overwhelming, especially the first time around. So when there’s a helping hand on offer, it makes sense to take it.
That’s why Homebuyers Centre works alongside Resolve Finance to guide you through every stage, explain what’s possible and support you from your first conversation right through to move-in day.
The rent reality check
Here’s the question worth sitting with: just how much are you paying in rent each week?
For a lot of first homebuyers in WA, their weekly home repayment ends up being in a similar range to what they’re already handing over to their landlord – sometimes less. When you look at it that way, owning a home starts to feel a lot more within reach than renting made it seem.
The $5K deposit pathway is for people who are done waiting, and ready to put that money toward something that’s actually theirs.
First Home Ready in 2026
2026 could be the year you stop waiting and start building.
A hard-earned $5K could be the step that turns intention into action – and puts a brand-new home within reach sooner than you might think.
