Why Mundijong Should Be on Your First Home Shortlist
Looking for a suburb with a bit more room to breathe?
Meet Mundijong. This old railway town sits where the paddocks meet the Darling Range, with forest trails on one side and farmland on the other.
It’s a close-knit community with a country feel and big plans on the way, and it could be the place you start your next chapter!
Here are the questions first homebuyers ask us most about Mundijong, answered.
Why Mundijong?
Space to breathe, and plenty of it. Mundijong has paddocks, bushland and the forest hills of the Serpentine Jarrahdale district right on your doorstep, with the city still within easy reach! Think slower mornings, friendly faces and a backyard with room for the BBQ.
And the best part? It’s the kind of place that can make you think, “hey, I can do this.” More space, a welcoming community and a first home that feels within reach.
What is there to do?
There’s more to do than you think! Here’s a look at what your weekends can look like:
🧺 Saturday morning: Fresh local produce and a coffee at the Serpentine Jarrahdale Farmers Market
🥾 Midday: The 1km Falls Walk Trail in Serpentine National Park, finishing at the Serpentine Falls viewing platform
🍷 Afternoon: A long, lazy lunch at Millbrook Winery in Jarrahdale
🔥 Evening: Backyard BBQ, because you’ve earned it
Want more? Serpentine Dam has a playground and free BBQs, and keen walkers can tackle Kitty’s Gorge or a section of the Bibbulmun Track.
How will I get around?
Good news: it’s getting easier!
The Tonkin Highway Extension is adding 14km of four-lane highway from Thomas Road to South Western Highway. That means less pressure on local roads and better connections across Perth’s south-east. Works are underway now, and you can keep an eye on progress on the Main Roads WA project page.
Prefer the train? Byford Station opened in October 2025 at the end of the Armadale Line, with buses linking Byford, Whitby and Mundijong. The line’s also been designed so it can be extended further south in future, so watch this space.
Where would I live?
We’re building in two Mundijong communities, and each has its own feel.
Taylor Springs is all about the green. Tree-lined streets, generous parks and walkable trails make it easy to get outside, and with a good mix of lot sizes, there’s a block to suit your budget and your plans. Picture weekend strolls, kids on bikes and neighbours you’ll actually get to know.
Mundi gives you the best of both worlds. You’re close enough to enjoy the city perks, and far enough away to enjoy a calm, semi-rural lifestyle. Think space, quiet and a slower pace, without feeling too far from it all.
Is Mundijong right for me?
If you’ve been dreaming of more space, a slower pace and a community where people say hello, there’s a good chance it is!
Mundijong is semi-rural, which means weekends of bushwalks and farmers markets, and a bit of a country drive when you head into the city (the CBD is about 50km away). With the Tonkin Highway Extension taking shape, getting around is only going to get easier.
The best way to find out? Take a drive out, grab a coffee and have a wander. You’ll know pretty quickly if it feels like home.
