Landscaping with Dan: The final steps

We’ve talked out how to get the most out of your landscaping from the inside out! We started with the foundations and making sure you’re starting out with the best blank canvas you can!

Daniel from @landscapeideas_perth is taking it up a notch and sharing with us all the best ways to “hardscape”. Sometimes we think our outdoor spaces are complete once the greenery is in. But things like our paving, planter boxes and firepits hold just as much importance and give just as much impact as rows and rows of gorgeous green trees.

Fixed seating and garden beds

A great way to help your space feel bigger is to make a feature out of raised garden beds and fixed bench seating. These are a great way of creating continuity and flow from your inside space into your outdoor entertaining areas. Whether they’re an extension of your home or a stand alone addition, these features work well to define areas of your outdoor space.

Need a casual seating area? Fixed bench seating or need a space to grow your herbs without taking over your entire garden? Raised garden beds!

Outdoor entertaining

We’re super lucky that here in Western Australia, we can make the most of our great weather an entertain in our homes more than ever.

If you’re a lover of outdoor entertaining, why not incorporate a firepit or outdoor kitchen. Just think about it! It’s a warm summers night and you’re hanging out with friends music pumping and you’ve got your fire pit going, throw in an outdoor TV, what could be better? You’ve created the perfect outdoor entertaining area.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to create a great outside space. Dan suggests shopping around to find one that fits you and your home.

The finishing touches

Choosing floor coverings can be a daunting process as there are so many options to choose from. Have a look at your overall style you are looking to achieve. Different floor covering can suit different styles and gardens and really make the difference.

Whether you’re a lover paving or decking, the finishing touches can take your outdoor space from wow to WOW! Dan suggests that if you’re taking on timber decking, Jarrah is your best friend. It’s naturally hardwearing and has a great natural colour. Take care with your oiling and upkeep maintenance and your space will be looking great all year long.

Remember that your outdoor space is an extension of your home. Whether you’re outdoor entertaining or creating an outdoor sanctuary in your own home. Take a look at your space as a whole. Consider your aesthetic and décor style and seamlessly incorporate it into your outdoor area.
