Britt and Josh: Building their first family home
Making the choice to move on from a rental property into your own home can be a tricky decision. Especially hard when you have been in a home for quite some time. Britt and Josh found themselves in that same predicament. They knew it was time to move into their own home but didn’t really know where to start.
“We decided to build a new home as we had been renting for quite a long time, about two or three years. We knew that it was time to start looking into it. The timing worked out really perfect for us.
“When we started looking to buy a home, we were looking at established homes. We realised there was a lot of stuff we wanted to do to the homes that we couldn’t, so we decided to build our own home so we could make it our own,” Josh said.
Homebuyers Centre stood out to them because of their New Homes Consultant. Britt said “the day we decided to start looking for a home, we contacted Homebuyers Centre. We met with our consultant and started looking at display homes. She took us through a few homes that matched our criteria and what we wanted.”
Having looked through a few display homes, the Hamlin caught their eye. The design suited their lifestyle to a tee. With a baby on the way it was important for them to have space for their family and friends.
“It was important to us when we chose a home design to have an open plan living and extra space for guests to come and go,” Britt said.
“The baby is coming in about 10 weeks, so this house design works out perfectly for us. It’s a big open space but it also gives us that segregated area, with parents up the front and kids at the back, it’s really nice to have that separation even in such a big space,” Josh said.
Josh said their favourite room in the house is their living room. “Our favourite room of the house would have to be our living space. Where our kitchen, living and dining all come together. It’s really open and spacious.
“It’s nice because we’ve been stuck in a small house for so long.”
Keeping their home quite simple, bright and white, they made no changes to their home from what you see in the display.
Knowing how much their first home meant to them. Their advice for any future #homesweethomebuyers who are making their first home happen
“To trust your gut and keep going until you find exactly what you’re looking for. Our first step was to find the right sales consultant. We trusted our Consultant, she really listened to what we wanted, considered our wish list, and made sure our home fit us.”
Now settled in their new home. Britt said “Our building journey with Homebuyers was really smooth.
“The one thing we didn’t want whilst building our first home together would have been any hurdles. We just wanted it to go the way we thought it should have gone, and that’s exactly how it happened.”
