Look for less: The Odelle master bedroom

So, you want a display home bedroom without the big price tag? We’ve got you covered. Check out this Look for Less to see how you can get an interior styled room for a fraction of the price.

Our inspiration? The master bedroom of our Odelle display home. This room is #bedroomgoals and its not just us who think so. This image is our most liked ‘bedroom shot’ on the Homebuyers Instagram.

What do we love about this look?

The monochrome colour palette. The natural wood elements. The pop of greenery. Altogether, these elements create a warmth and a cosiness that makes this a dream bedroom.

Now, how to create it? We’ve hunted down budget-friendly alternatives for each key element, starting with the headboard.

The headboard

This beautiful linen padded headboard is a custom piece, but there is a great alternative at everyone’s fav Swedish retailer, Ikea. The Ikea version is wood rather than fabric, but it will still do the job in creating a dark background which allows the softer, lighter colours in the bedding to pop.

The bed covers

One of the most important elements! The bed covers can either make or break your room. For longevity, your best bet is sticking to a solid colour that can be used for many years to come. In this room our Interior Decorator used white bed covers with a charcoal throw as the basis of this masterpiece. Create a similar look with a charcoal bed spread from Target.

We love a good cushion, they’re so inviting, and just make us want to jump right in, but you definitely don’t need all seven.

To recreate this look, pick and choose what works best for you.

The back white cushions are a European style. Kmart sells the covers and inserts separately, allowing you to reuse a European cushion you might already have, and just change out the cover, or you can buy a reasonably price insert.

For the light grey pillows, we found a similar version in a Bamboo Sheet Set from Kmart that comes with a fitted sheet, flat sheet and the two pillowcases, and there’s options for every bed size.

Now, the front charcoal cushions. We’ve found some beautiful quilted-finish cushions from Targat. Again, these are pillowcases, allowing you to re-use an insert you may already have.

We mixed it up for the last pillow. We thought this white, zig zag shag cushion was fun and added a bit of texture.

Artwork

We love the artwork above the bed, it makes the ceilings feel higher as your eye is drawn up.

We found these Alliums Prints on Desenio. This website allows you to order prints minus the frame, so you can save on postage and keep costs down, then you can just head to Ikea and pick up some inexpensive frames and you’re done.

MIRROR

Mirrors are a handy trick to making a space feel bigger than it actually is. Place a mirror across from a window and you instantly add light and a sense of space to any room. And we love the arched mirror, it’s a nice change from all the square shapes in the room.

FINISHING TOUCHES

To complete the look, trusty Kmart has all you need to create this side table area.
